This picture taken in the basement
starts our tour of phase 2 of the Mission refurbishment - the new heating system. It shows the old boilers. |
| This is the old fan area on
the other side of the boilers.
Hot air was pulled from pipes by the fans and pushed up into the roof cavity of the Main Hall to heat the Main Hall |

After the old boilers had been started and the heat was circulating the fan was started and brought up to speed using the regulator on the left. |
| Also mounted in the basement on their new raised plinth
are the four new boilers for the new heating system. The boilers are raised up to avoid flooding which often occurs in the basement during winter storms. |

This picture shows the pipework at the rear of the boilers which feed into the pumps which pump the hot water around the heating system.(the pumps are red in the centre of the picture) |

We have now moved to the Main Hall. Here we can see the new heaters on either side of the front window.(coloured white) The under seat heating ducts can be seen to the right of the entrance steps. |
