Phase three of the redevelopment work involves work to the rooms and access areas at the rear of the building namely the Lower Hall, Upper Hall and Balliol Chapel. Plans for redeveloping the community rooms with work hopefully beginning in 2010.

Phase 3 objectives
• to meet current legislation
• to create access for all throughout the building, by installing a lift to first and second level and a platform lift into the Youth Club area.
• to upgrade stairs and entrances
• to upgrade and renovate all community space
• to keep all rooms multi-purpose

The Lottery Bid does not include any refurbishment
of the Main Hall, but the intention
is to promote the area as a conference centre.

Recommendations:-

1. That we agree to maximum flexibility of rooms, with the possible exception of the requirements of an ‘Anchor Tenant’.

2. That we make maximum use of space to meet current community needs and to increase revenue in the future.

3. That we agree to consider the removal of the pews in the BALLIOL CHAPEL and moving the items that hold particular importance, to a new permanent area within the Mission, to provide an alternative area for worship.
