The Beacon Project is OUR church and community renewal scheme
  • At a total cost of around £400,000 the Beacon Project seeks to provide secure, comfortable and accessible ground floor premises for the use of individuals and groups within the community.
  • The Beacon Project is based at Linacre Mission – a Grade II listed building which celebrated its Centenary in 2005. The refurbishment will reflect the historic nature of the premises and seek to enhance existing architectural and decorative features whilst providing for all modern needs.

    The Beacon Project will offer...

  • Wheelchair lift in to the premises and internal ramping to allow for access to public rooms
  • Fully equipped toilet provision providing access for people with disabilities
  • Baby changing facilities
  • Provision of hearing loops in meeting rooms
  • Modern kitchen provision to allow for catering for up to 80 people
  • Fully refurbished meeting rooms and halls for groups from
6-150 incorporating sympathetic lighting, flexible furnishings and amplification equipment
  • Secure entry system into the building
  • Audible fire warning alarms and emergency lighting
  • Central heating throughout the ground floor public meeting rooms

The Project costs also allow for the weatherproofing of the exterior of the premises and electrical rewiring.
A Main Hall is also available with seating for 600+.

Why  ‘The Beacon Project’?
Linacre Mission has an historic place in this community. For some years ‘The Lighthouse Café’ (in several forms) offered hope and fellowship for local people. In adopting the ‘Beacon’ motif we are linking today’s work and witness to that of our past.
A Beacon is usually placed high on a hill where it can be clearly seen.
Our prayer is that God’s love and light will shine brightly from Linacre
A series of Beacons were used to spread messages around the nation
Our prayer is that the message of God’s love and light will be shared from Linacre in to the world

A Beacon is used to draw people to a place of safety, warmth and hope.
Our prayer is that our Beacon Project will provide a place of welcome, security and love and that through Linacre, people will be drawn closer to God
