Centre Manager

 Linacre Mission Neighbourhood Centre

 Centre Manager

I am delighted to be able to report that we have appointed a Centre Manager, Paula O’Brien, who began work in the Neighbourhood Centre on 1st August. We had 47 applicants for the job and interviewed 9 people.

Paula has been working for Riverside Housing Association as a Neighbourhood Liaison Officer and Resource Centre Manager in the Picton Ward of Liverpool and surrounding areas. She has been the Centre Manager at Porchfield Community Residents Association and has experience working for the Liverpool Children’s Fund, North West After Adoption Service and Netherley Citizen’s Advice Bureau. Paula brings with her a wealth of experience in a wide variety of community initiatives and of working in a deprived area such as ours here in the Litherland Ward. Paula wrote in her application:

“I have an excellent understanding and experience of the ethos and values of the voluntary and community sectors. This has been gained from my work of more than 15 years, directly within community and voluntary organisations, who all hold the ethos and values of providing support and practical help to communities, particularly the most vulnerable and often hard to reach, to ensure that they are made fully aware of, and have every opportunity to access services, activities and events that may enhance and improve their overall well being and help to build stronger, safer and more vibrant communities.

I believe I have an excellent understanding of the Christian faith and how this relates to others. I have been raised with strong Christian values and I always endeavour to live by these in all my actions and deeds in every aspect of my life.”

Paula’s appointment is for 5 years, paid for by a grant from the Reaching Communities Lottery Fund, so we are looking forward to exciting times as we extend our service to the local community, encouraging people to join in activities and training as well as social and cultural events to enrich their lives.
